A limited number of $900 tuition scholarships are available this fall for anyone enrolling in the small business management program at Oregon Coast Community College, thanks to donations from the city of Lincoln City and Northwest Oregon Works.
“We’re encouraging anyone who’s considering applying for the small business management courses to reach out soon,” said David Price, OCCC’s vice president of engagement. The all-tuition scholarships are open to any business owner or manager in the county.
The college’s small business management program features monthly classroom sessions along with one-on-one business advising meeting between classes.
“During those advising sessions, businesses can dig deeper into some of the ideas and principles introduced during the monthly workshops,” said small business development center director Gregory Price. “Or, they can choose to devote those valuable opportunities to meet with an experienced business adviser to focus on ongoing work to achieve particular objectives or overcome specific challenges.”
The college is also starting a separate management program geared to restaurant owners and operators.
“Restaurants share many challenges faced by other types of businesses but other areas are unique to the industry,” said Gregory Price. “Controlling food costs, revising menus, staffing through seasonal changes, sourcing local foods, managing debt – this program is going to dive deep into these particular issues, along with many others.”
Meanwhile, the center’s traditional business management courses will involve an updated curriculum, including sessions focusing on business law, wealth creation, marketing, cybersecurity, personnel management, and more.
Classes for both programs begin in October and run through June. They are available in-person or via Zoom when necessary.
Program information and the schedule of workshops is on the college website, or apply for the program any time via this link or call 541-994-4166 for more information.
