Lincoln County has had its 18th resident die of causes related to the COVID-19 virus since the pandemic hit the area 11 months ago.
The Oregon Health Authority reported on Monday that a 71-year-old woman from Lincoln County tested positive Jan. 9 and died Jan. 27 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. She had underlying conditions.
It was the first death of a Lincoln County resident since early December.
Details of the death were only reported Monday after Gov. Kate Brown last week reversed an OHA decision to not release deaths of every COVID-19 related death in Oregon because of workload issues. In all, 1,958 Oregonians have died of causes related to the virus.
